The Gujarat government has classified 268 talukas in the state's 34 districts into two categories under its Viksit Gujarat Industrial Policy 2026 to promote investment and ensure balanced development, officials said on Monday.
In a release, the government said, under the revised classification announced by the Industries and Mines Department, 130 talukas have been placed in Category A and 138 in Category B.
"The classification takes into account the creation of new talukas and the provisions of the new industrial policy. The revised framework is aimed at helping entrepreneurs setting up new industrial units or expanding existing facilities identify the applicable category and understand the incentives available based on the location of their projects," it said.
However, the benefits will be subject to the eligibility criteria, rules and conditions prescribed under the respective schemes, the government said.
The policy also focuses on promoting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), startups, women entrepreneurs and first-generation entrepreneurs. It includes provisions to encourage green industrial parks, wastewater recycling, clean manufacturing technologies and the circular economy.
"The revised classification would provide greater clarity on incentives and help accelerate industrial investment across different regions of Gujarat," the government statement said.
